A pneumatic gas lift under the seat lets you adjust the height without tools. Assembly takes about 20 to 30 minutes and only requires the Allen key that comes in the box.

Important Notes Before You Start

  • Lay out all parts on a clean, flat surface and check them against the Parts & Hardware List before you begin.
  • Do not sit in the chair until every step is done and all bolts are tight.
  • The 6×20mm bolts (G) and 6×25mm bolts (H) look similar. Check the length before inserting each one.
  • Hand-tighten every bolt first, then go back and fully tighten with the Allen key once the parts are aligned.
  • The Gas Lift and Casters are press-fit, no bolts needed. Push each one firmly and straight until it is fully seated.
  • Keep all hardware away from young children.
  • Do not exceed the 265 lb weight limit.

Step-by-Step Assembly

The HOMCOM Heart Love Shaped Back Office Chair (SKU:833-942V80) goes together in five steps. Follow them in order, each step builds on the last.

Step 01: Assemble the 5-Star Base

Diagram showing casters and gas lift inserting into base.

  1. Place the 5-Star Base (E) right-side up on the floor.
  2. Hold the Gas Lift (D) vertically and insert it straight down into the central socket of the base, pressing firmly until it is fully seated and stands straight.
  3. Take one Caster (F) and press its stem firmly into one of the five arm-tip sockets until it is fully seated. Tug it to confirm it does not pull out.
  4. Repeat for the remaining four casters.

Note: The Gas Lift does not click. It is held in place by the weight of the seat assembly that goes on top. Make sure it stands straight before moving on.

Step 02: Bolt the Seat Mechanism to the Seat

Diagram showing mechanism plate screwing onto chair seat bottom.

  1. Place the Seat (B) right-side up on a soft surface such as a folded towel or blanket to protect the fabric.
  2. Position the Seat Mechanism (C) underneath the seat, centered, with all four bolt holes aligned with the holes in the seat as shown in image.
  3. Thread all four 6×20mm Bolts (G) down through the seat from the top into the mechanism, do not tighten yet.
  4. Once all four bolts are started and the mechanism sits flush with no gap, tighten with the Allen key (I) in a diagonal pattern: top-left, bottom-right, top-right, bottom-left.

Note: The adjustment lever and cable will hang below the seat once the mechanism is attached. Make sure they are not pinched or trapped between the mechanism and the seat as you tighten.

Step 03: Attach the Backrest to the Seat Mechanism

  1. Keep the Seat (B) in the same position as Step 02, right-side up.
  2. Hold the Backrest (A) upright alongside the seat and align its mounting bracket with the bolt holes on the side of the Seat Mechanism (C).
  3. Thread all four 6×25mm Bolts (H) into the bracket by hand, do not tighten yet.
  4. Once all four bolts are started and the bracket sits flush against the mechanism with no gap, tighten fully with the Allen key (I) in a diagonal pattern.

Tip: Use the longer 6×25mm bolts (H) here, not the shorter G bolts. Double-check the bolt length before inserting.

Step 04: Mount the Seat Assembly onto the Base

  1. Hold the completed seat assembly (Seat + Seat Mechanism + Backrest) upright.
  2. Align the socket on the Seat Mechanism (C) with the top of the Gas Lift (D).
  3. Lower the seat assembly straight down onto the Gas Lift until it is fully seated.
  4. Set the chair down and check that it sits flat without rocking. If it rocks, lift the seat assembly off and confirm the Gas Lift is centered and straight in the base before reseating.

Step 05: Final Check

Your chair is fully assembled.

Before sitting in it, confirm the following:

  • All five casters are fully seated and do not pull out when tugged.
  • The Seat Mechanism sits flush against the underside of the seat with no gap.
  • The Backrest is firm with no wobble in any direction.
  • All eight bolts are snug, none turn freely by hand.
  • The Gas Lift stands straight in the base.
  • The height-adjustment lever raises and lowers the seat smoothly.
  • The chair swivels a full 360 degrees without sticking.

Adjusting Seat Height

The pneumatic lever is located under the right side of the seat.

  • To raise the seat: Stand slightly or reduce your weight from the chair, then pull the lever upward. The gas lift will extend and raise the seat. Release the lever once the seat reaches your preferred height.
  • To lower the seat: Pull the lever up while seated and press down gently with your body weight. Release the lever to lock.

Safety Notes

  • Sit in the center of the seat with your weight evenly balanced. Do not perch on the front edge.
  • This chair is for one person at a time. Maximum capacity is 265 lbs.
  • Do not rock or bounce in the chair.
  • Do not use this chair as a step stool or ladder.
  • Do not pull or yank the chair suddenly, move it slowly to avoid tipping or joint stress.
  • Only a qualified technician should replace or repair the gas lift cylinder.

Maintenance

  • Seat and Backrest fabric: Blot spills right away with a dry cloth. For general cleaning, wipe with a lightly damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Do not soak the fabric. No bleach or abrasive cleaners. Air dry fully before use.
  • Frame and base: Wipe with a dry cloth. Dry the base joints after any contact with liquid, do not leave standing water around them.
  • Gas Lift: Wipe the chrome shaft with a dry cloth. Do not apply any lubricant, it will attract dust and degrade the internal seal over time.
  • Casters: Check periodically for hair or debris wrapped around the axles and cut it away with scissors. Replace a caster if you notice cracking or flat spots.
  • Bolts: Every few weeks, sit in the chair and give it a gentle test. If you hear creaking or feel any movement, re-tighten the bolts with the Allen key (I).

FAQs

1. Will HOMCOM heart love shaped back office chairs fit under a standard desk?

At its maximum height of 20.75 inches, the seat sits well under most standard desks in the 28–30 inch range. If your desk has a fixed keyboard tray underneath, measure the clearance before ordering to make sure the seat clears it comfortably.

2. Can children use a HOMCOM Heart love shaped back office chair?

The chair supports up to 265 lbs and the seat height adjusts between 17 and 20.75 inches, which works for older children and teens at a standard desk. For younger children whose feet do not reach the floor when seated, a footrest is recommended to avoid strain on the legs over time.

3. Does the HOMCOM heart love shaped back office chair spin freely or does it have a lock?

The base swivels a full 360 degrees freely with no locking mechanism. If you prefer a chair that stays in one position while you work, this model is not designed for that. The swivel is continuous and cannot be disabled.
