Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions

Follow the steps below carefully to assemble your Outsunny Rattan-Style Garden Coffee Table (SKU: 867-236V00).

Step 01: Attach the Rattan Side Panel without Legs to One Rattan Side Panel with Legs

This step forms a U-shape by standing both Rattan Side Panel without Legs upright onto one Rattan Side Panel with Legs.

Connecting rattan side panels using M6 bolts and washers.

  1. Lay one Rattan Side Panel with Legs (A) flat on the ground with the corner bracket holes facing upward.
  2. Stand one Rattan Side Panel without Legs (B) upright at one end of the Rattan Side Panel with Legs (A), aligning the pre-drill holes.
  3. Place one Flat washer (3) onto an M6 x 35 mm screw (1) and drive it down through the hole using the Allen key.
  4. Stand the second Rattan Side Panel without Legs (B) upright at the opposite end of the Rattan Side Panel with Legs (A) and fix in the same way using one M6 x 35 mm screw (1) and one Flat washer (3).
  5. Once both Rattan Side Panel without Legs (B) are loosely connected, go back and fully tighten all four M6 x 35 mm screws (1) using the Allen key.

You should now have a U-shaped assembly with the Rattan Side Panel with Legs (A) as the base and both Rattan Side Panel without Legs (B) standing upright at either end.

Step 02: Attach the Second Rattan Side Panel with Legs to Close the Frame

Attaching the final long rattan panel to complete frame.

This step closes the U-shape from Step 01 into a fully enclosed square frame.

  1. Take the second Rattan Side Panel with Legs (A) and position it across the open side of the U-shaped assembly, aligning its holes with the open ends of both Rattan Side Panel without Legs (B).
  2. Place one Flat washer (3) onto an M6 x 35 mm screw (1) and drive it through the corner bracket hole at one end using the Allen key.
  3. Repeat at the opposite corner using one M6 x 35 mm screw (1) and one Flat washer (3).
  4. Once both corners are connected and the frame sits square and level, fully tighten all four M6 x 35 mm screws (1) using the Allen key.

The frame should now be fully enclosed and rigid with no movement at any corner, ready to receive the tabletop panels.

Step 03: Fix the Fir Wood Slatted Top Panels

This final step attaches the tabletop surface to the assembled frame.

  1. Position the first Fir Wood Slatted Top Panel (C) across one half of the top of the frame, aligning its pre-drilled fixing holes with the corresponding holes on the top edge of the frame.
  2. Drive four M4 x 15 mm screws (2) through the pre-drilled holes in the Fir Wood Slatted Top Panel (C) down into the frame using the Allen key.
  3. Position the second Fir Wood Slatted Top Panel (C) across the remaining half of the top, aligning all pre-drilled holes.
  4. Drive the remaining four M4 x 15 mm screws (2) through the Fir Wood Slatted Top Panel (C) and tighten fully using the Allen key.

Assembly is now complete.

  • Both Fir Wood Slatted Top Panels (C) sit flush with no gaps, rocking, or raised edges.
  • All M6 x 35 mm screws (1) and M4 x 15 mm screws (2) are fully tightened, tested by attempting to turn each one with the Allen key.
  • The table sits level on all four legs with no rocking.

Safety and Usage Notes

  • This table is designed for outdoor use in garden, patio, and conservatory settings.
  • Do not place the table on uneven ground as this may cause instability.
  • Do not exceed the maximum recommended load capacity as stated on the product listing.
  • Avoid dragging the table across rough surfaces by the top panels, always lift from the frame when moving it.

Maintenance Tips

  • PE rattan side panels: Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. For more stubborn marks, use a mild soapy solution and rinse with clean water. Avoid harsh chemical or solvent-based cleaners.
  • Fir Wood Slatted Top Panels: Clean with a damp cloth. Do not leave standing water on the surface for extended periods.
  • Frame and screws: Periodically check all M6 x 35 mm screws (1) and M4 x 15 mm screws (2) and re-tighten with the Allen key if any movement is detected, particularly after the table is first used outdoors.
  • Winter storage: For best longevity, store the table in a dry, covered location during prolonged wet weather or over winter, or use an appropriate outdoor furniture cover.

FAQs

1. What is the difference between PE rattan and natural rattan, and why does it matter for outdoor use?

PE rattan (polyethylene rattan) is a synthetic material engineered specifically for outdoor exposure, meaning it will not crack, fade significantly, or absorb moisture the way natural rattan does. Natural rattan is an organic material that deteriorates quickly when left outdoors, whereas the PE rattan on this table is UV-treated and designed to withstand British weather conditions across multiple seasons without splitting or discolouring badly.

2. Will the metal inner frame of the garden coffee table rust over time?

The internal metal frame is the structural core of the table and is not directly exposed to rain as it sits within the PE rattan panels. However, if the rattan weave is ever damaged and the frame beneath is exposed to standing water repeatedly, surface rust can develop. Spraying any exposed metal areas with a clear outdoor metal lacquer or rust-inhibiting spray once a year is a simple precaution that significantly extends the frame’s lifespan.

3. Is the Outsunny Rattan-Style garden coffee table suitable for use on a composite decking surface?

Yes, composite decking is one of the better surfaces for this table as it is firm, level, and gentle on the leg tips. If the legs leave marks over time, small felt or rubber furniture pads placed under each leg will protect the decking without affecting stability.
