What is a console table?
A console table is a special type of furniture that is often placed behind a couch or seating arrangement, but also fits in nicely along a wall, in the living room, family room, bedroom, or as an entry way or hallway table. A console table is also sometimes called a sofa table.  You can set a decorative sculpture, a vase, lamp, or family portraits on its narrow long surface.

Size and placement
Before you get started, take measurements with your trusty tape measure so you can best select a piece that will fit where you intend it to live. The right fitting table will not only look better but can save you time and expense from having to return a table that didn’t work out the way you envisioned it in your mind’s eye.

If you are wanting to pair your console with a couch, sofa, or loveseat, measure the height on the back of your seat so you can get the height of your table close as possible.

Choosing what’s right for you
Aosom has a lot of different styles of console tables to match your current and future décor needs! We have pieces that would fit in to many different genres style including traditional, modern, rustic farmhouse, shabby chic, glam, industrial and more. Additionally, may pieces come in a variety of color choices making it easier to fit not only your style but your color pallet as well.

The right stuff: table materials

Wood and veneer tables offer that classic style that only wood grain can impart to a room. Wood veneer can come in a lot of different colors so you can match your existing furniture with ease. Metal tables have a clean, and often more minimalistic, industrial look. Metal frames often come with a glass top for an elegant style that is also easy to wipe down and care for.  Hybrid wood-metal tables offer the best of both worlds.

How to use your table

Some models offer storage, usually modest in size, but not an overrated feature in the least. Especially if you are placing the table in a hallway, entryway, or using as a small TV stand, having a drawer to place small items can be super helpful. Some of our consoles offer one or more shelves below the tabletop portion. You can keep these clear for a clean look, or use them for decorative objects, or place small bins and baskets there for easy-to-access storage that will still look clean and organized. . If your table is set along a wall, you can try pairing it with a painting or a mirror above it.
